We do Recover - Drug Addiction

Addiction is often triggered by trying to cope with a high level of stress, chronic pain, or depression. The social stigmas associated with addiction and alcoholism, only exacerbate these problems when one feels the need to hide the disease instead of seeking help to recover from it. This catch-22 situation invariably causes addiction to escalate and not recede.

Addiction is now recognized as an international epidemic. Abuse and addiction are not only limited to illicit drugs but extends to prescription drugs as well. The avenues for procuring illicit drugs these days are multiple, despite restrictions, bans and severe penalties, and the use of these substances should be short-circuited with immediate effect before serious addiction has a chance to take hold.

While ‘pre-contemplative’, the drug addict does not see any problem in their existing behaviors and has not thought that there may be different and better options. Often when drug-addicted people end up seeking advice from a counselor or treatment center it’s under some form of duress from friends, family, and employers. Often the people around the patient report that the addicted person is in ‘denial’ of their problem.
